Dr. Bob DeMaria: Hello, my name is Dr. Bob DeMaria, the Drugless Doctor. And what I want to talk to you about right now are the night shades. You say 'Dr. Bob, what are the night shades?' I'm going to give it to you, it's really quite simple, but it could be the reason that you're having pain syndromes. Here I go.
Tomatoes. Now I'm not telling you to stop eating tomatoes, gentleman. Tomatoes are good for your prostate gland and I eat at least six small grape sized tomatoes every day. But if you eat tomatoes and they cause pain in your body, here's what I want to talk to you about. It's the liver. The liver is your oil filter in your body. And if your liver is compromised, tomatoes, next is potatoes. Potatoes are also a night shade. It's very interesting though, because some of you are eating gluten free food. You're eating a box that says gluten free. I want you to look at the label and if it has potato starch in it... I am not saying potato starch is not good. But tomatoes and potatoes, from my experience, can cause pain in your body. Because I know some of you watching me right now have relentless, gnawing mid-back pain, because you love potatoes, potato salads, potato chips, which by the way, if I was going to deviate from my diet, just give me a bag of chips. Ridged chips by the way.
These are french fries. The average american consumes 28 pounds of french fries. So what I'm trying to help you with right now are tomatoes, potatoes... and my name is DeMaria, that's Italian. Eggplant, not that eggplant is not good, I love eggplant. But tomatoes, potatoes and eggplant are night shades. And if your liver is compromised, they could be an issue. They cause an issue called calcinosis. Calcinosis is calcification of tendons. I know some of you have been on pain medications. Actually 126 million of you take pain medications on a regular basis. And if you have a passionate addiction and love eggplant, that could be a part of your challenge. So it's tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant and peppers. Green peppers, not that green peppers are not good, but they're a night shade and they could cause pain inside of your body.
So I'm going to drop some information on you now that you could pass around the world. Are you ready for this? Night shades have nicotinic acid in it. You say 'what is that mean, Dr. Bob?' Night shades have nicotinic acid, which is kind of like passionately addictive. So some of you love certain foods that I just mentioned, because it could be the nicotine that's in them. Paprika also is a night shade.
So, some action steps. If tomatoes, potatoes, egg plant and green peppers bother you, it's not those foods. We have to fix your liver. I've talked about it in the past, maybe some milk thistle. It helps promote optimal liver function. I take dandelion root every day, promotes optimal liver function. I take peppermint drops every day. And then finally, Dr. Bob's ABC's, a half a red apple, a third cup of beet fiber, one medium carrot, every day. I'm doctor Bob DeMaria, the Drugless Doctor.
Dr. Bob DeMaria discusses a class of foods that are normally thought of as healthy, but how they may be causing you pain. He also discusses why it's not necessarily the food that's causing problems, but something else instead!
